I am studying the immigration of my Cuban ancestors, the Valdés y Negual family to the United States in about 1885. They arrived from Cuba before the Spanish-American War but during a time of racial strife in Cuba. I often wonder what their thoughts were as they travelled back and forth from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida.
