Cactus Boosts Vitamin C

Prickly Pear Cactus or Nopal, is a very popular medicinal plant in the southwestern US and in Latin America because of its high fiber content and antioxidants. There is some evidence that consumption of the prickly pear cactus can lower blood sugar levels and can even help with a hangover.


The cactus fruit, also known as the pear, is an excellent source of Vitamin C. Other health benefits of incorporating cactus into your diet is the reduction of blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Another benefit of eating cactus is its rich fiber which has been found to boost digestive health.
