A very special medicinal plant is the Electric Daisy, a native of Peru.
The Electric Daisy is known by several other names, such as the Eyeball Plant due to its orb-shaped flower with its red center. It is also known as the Toothache Plant. It’s main active ingredient is spilanthol, which gives an anesthetic effect when the plant is chewed. Studies have found the compounds in this plant beneficial in blocking pain receptors at the nerve endings.
Electric Daisy contains cannabinoid-like compounds known as N-isobutylamides which help to combat shooting pain. It has also been used to alleviate pain due to migraine headaches and arthritis.
Additional benefits of the Electric Daisy is that it is an antimicrobial, antiviral, antimalarial, and analgesic. Few medicinal plants have so many valuable qualities.
