Making a Mojito is easier than you would think.
If you read my first blog post then you know that peppermint or “yerba buena” is an important ingredient in the traditional Cuban cocktail, the Mojito. This tasty alcoholic beverage is especially refreshing on a summer day.
It is a simple recipe to master. Here is our recipe for the Mojito:
The Valdes y Negual 1885 Mojito
Have a nice tall glass for each of your guests.
Place a sprig of mint leaves in each glass and muddle it using either a wooden spoon or a muddler to release the mint oils.
Next, combine white rum, the juice of a freshly squeezed lime and some superfine sugar to taste. Add ice to the glass and stir. Then top off the glass with some club soda.
Garnish each drink with extra mint leaves and lime slices and serve.
For a change of pace, you may add cucumber, watermelon slices or strawberries to your Mojito.
The simplicity of the Mojito recipe means you will be whipping these up for your friends and family in no time! Enjoy!
