Herbs to Pair with Cannabis

Cannabis users are known to cocktail their herbs together to come up with a blend that works for them. Let’s consider some herbs you might want to try. *

For centuries, many have found the herb St. John’s Wort to be an effective anti-depressant. Recent studies have found it to decrease symptoms of depression better than a placebo. Studies on cannabis have also found it to be beneficial in the treatment of depression caused by chronic stress. So with the correct dosage, these herbs may be helpful to elevate your mood.

Echinacea is an herb commonly taken to boost the immune system. It has now been found that echinacea contains cannabinoids that help boost the immune system by providing compounds that help your body absorb nutrients. Both cannabis and echinacea are useful in alleviating anxiety and pain.

Theobroma Cacao, otherwise known as Chocolate is actually a superfood. Raw organic chocolate contains more antioxidants than most foods, including that of blueberries. Some of the earliest users of cacao as a medicinal plant were the Mayan, who existed from 250 AD. The Mayan used cacao for its digestive, anti-inflammatory and energy related benefits. At the same time, it appears that the Mayan also cultivated cannabis for use as a medicine.

Cacao produces a cannabinoid called anandamide. Anandamide mimics the pleasant, psychoactive effects of cannabinoids and gives a general sense of bliss. The addition of chocolate to a cannabis session may prove to enhance mood elevation.
