Mayan Goddess Ix Chel

Updated: Dec 22, 2021

The Mayan Goddess Ix Chel was the Goddess of the Moon, female cycles, weaving and the guardian of midwives, fertility, and childbirth. The name Ix Chel has many Maya interpretations, but it loosely translates to “Lady Rainbow”.

As symbolized by the snake she is wearing on her head, she is also the Goddess of Medicine and medicinal plants. All plant medicine and sacred healing is under her domain and her healing, spiritual, and intuitive abilities are stronger than ever.

Truly a gateway goddess, she is also the keeper of the souls of the dead. She is holding a rabbit, a symbol of fertility and abundance and they appear to be having a smoke together. Medicinal, of course. Wink, wink.
